A Midsummer Night's Success
Last night I ran my first 5K race, the Midsummer Night's Run in downtown Lexington. I had a blast. Running down the empty streets while street-side strangers cheered everyone along at every turn was exhilarating. They weren't all strangers either, Sadie was there near the two-mile mark to give me a much needed shout of encouragement.
I ended up running much faster than I thought I would. I wasn't able to run the entire way, I probably split my time between running and walking fairly evenly, but I'm still very satisfied with my results. I now have a benchmark, and a goal to strive for.
Next month there is a Race for The Cure here, and I'll be running that as well.
For the curious here are my results from last night:
Final Time: 41:12
Chip Time: 38:45
